I once refused a ride because they would not let my dog come with me. We now have 2 mutt cats that would possibly have been destroyed if we had not adopted them. I regularyl feed 2 wild chipmunks, 1 rabbit & only the Lord knows how many squirrels, BUT the situation in N.O. calls for some perspective and if an animal has to be left to fend for itself so that humans can be cared for, then so be it.
