This according to the Harrah's New Orleans website and the hurricane telephone hotline setup by the company to give operational status information. To me this indicates that there must have been some serious structural damage to the building since it apparently won't be opening anytime soon. On the upside according to the recorded message Harrah's New Orleans employees will still be receiving a paycheck at the hourly rate even though the casino is closed and they are trying to get trucks through to New Orleans and Orleans Parish so that Harrah's employees and their families have food and other important supplies.

I have to give a lot of credit and respect to Gary Loveman the Chairman and CEO of Harrah's who has shown he cares about the safety and well being of his employees.
