Just for fun, let me dip my feathered pen in this issue. Every year there are so many really dull chips put out (seen the new Wynn Chips, that I applaud the times when casinos really make an effort, I don't care what Casino they are. I have biases of where I like to play (but who gets that excited over Harrah's chips), but I look to the list of nominees to be sure I haven't missed any real beauties.

I like this award (all otys) because it encourages a greater effort. If the Palms and Hard Rock are going to regularly go all out, then they deserve more nominations, and voters should vote the one that is best.

That may be the one that is the most artistic, or one that inspires (the aladdin chip shown in Jim Follis earlier response). It would be fair to say that chip received support in part because of what happened that year. But it was no less deserving, because it showed effort on the part of casinos and the designers.
