Fred,
Things have really changed here in Kansas City in regards to Limit Poker VS No Limit....
It does not seem that long ago here in Kansas City that ALL the games were LIMIT poker only (plus maybe a table of Stud, HO, and Omaha each). It was a big big deal when Ameristar started up a NL game on Thursday night. You had to get there early and be playing in a limit game before they would put your name on the list for the NL Game. Initially they only had one table for that Thursday NL game. Then eventually they started having two tables going.
Finally Harrahs opened up a poker room, then the ISLE of Capre did too.
Out of the three poker rooms here in KC, I like Harrahs the best and when I play, that is where I go. I actually prefer online play but when some friends want to go play some cards, we head to Harrahs.
It is unreal how the tables have now turned... I've seen the poker lists at Harrah's on the weekends where they have immediate seating for $3/$6 games (or maybe a few names on the waiting list) and a HUGE list for the NL games with $200 and/or $500 max buy-in. Harrah's used to spread $6/$12 limit game and it's rare to see that game going. I never see $15/$30 any longer either. It appears to me that they might have a couple of $3/$6 games going and that's it.
I played at the ISLE one time and the room was so small and cramped that I haven't been back. Not sure what level of games are spread at Ameristar these days. It's been a long time since I've been there to play.
