"This 'WAR' isn't worth winning if we have to shred the constitution to do it."
Sorry Pete, but I have a difficult time taking anyone seriously who attempts to trivialize what is and has been happening for decades in the modern world fueled by extremist sectors of a particular religious group from a particular region of this planet. Putting the word war in parentheses indicates that you may have no real grasp of the gravity of what is actually happening.
Placing greater scrutiny on an identifiable group of people that not only contains individuals with a mindset of killing Americans, but is also reluctant to publicly condemn those actions is something that should and must be done. I don't think there is any reference in the constitution that disallows trying to identify those who would destroy this country and kill all of its people.
"Just out of curiousity? How do you feel about the interment of Japanese Americans during WWII?"
It was wrong. ....but this isn't the same thing. We weren't attacked by Japanese Americans living here. We were attacked by middle eastern Islamic extremists living here, and no one that I'm aware of is calling for the internment of all middle eastern people. To not place greater scrutiny on people with similar backgrounds would be foolish and irresponsible, and my well cost us many more innocent American lives.
It may offend some people, it may inconvenience some people, but not being offended or inconvenienced isn't a protection afforded under our constitution. Or is it?
...and by the way, we really are at war, with a real enemy!
