Joe, misspelling just weakens an already specious argument; hence its importance. That aside, even if you feel that you were totally in the right, starting a personal smear campaign just makes you look bad. It is my understanding that this all occurred because you were not recognized when arranging chips in the display...if that's why you got jumped on, try and look at it from a club officer's point of view: an unknown person at an event open to the public tampering with the personal chip display. You wouldn't want some strange person from off the street stealing your chips. I believe that is what happened with you. Could the situation have been handled differently? More diplomatically? Maybe. Probably. I wasn't there when it happened. But a personal attack against a long-time, well-respected club official is unwarranted, and posting it on the board rather than handling it in private makes you look wrong in the eyes of many, even if you were totally in the right!
On another note, I'll be the first to admit that you do have some interesting ideas now and then, but it is your presentation that requires improvement. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the club isn't going to change overnight.
Be nice! You'll get a lot farther that way rather than with rabble-rousing. Sure, there are two sides to every story, but telling it in the way that you have makes me (and others) reluctant to listen to your side.
"Mediation and conflict resolution," which I teach, begins with attitude. And yes, spelling counts in a written argument. Sorry if I picked on yours, but that's my pet peeve. Remember, you can be 100% right and still appear 110% wrong with a poorly stated, badly worded argument. Something to think about...OK, I'm done. Let go of this and move on.
Why not click my link and adopt a manatee? They don't care about chips or spelling.
