Steve,
Below is an E-Mail I just sent to Brian...So, I'll post it here so you know how it went. Andy - Las Vegas
It was an interesting day to say the least. We started with $2,000 in chips with a single $25 blind & 25 minute rounds. On the 2nd hand I get dealt AQ of Diamonds. I catch an Ace on the flop & a Queen on the turn & was then up to $3,000 in chips. Two hands later I get dealt Kings & make a raise of about $150. A player who has been going to BARGE forever & who I know goes all in. This player by the way has a reputation of playing any two cards. Either way though I'm of course calling. He turned over Aces & won the pot. I hang in for about another 90 minutes going from $500 to a $1000 & back. Then I get AK & go all in with my last $500, the same player calls & turns over QJ & gets a Jack on the flop & I'm out. I played perfect for my short 90 minutes in the tournament, but as you know that does not always mean a lot. The players name is Don "Try That" Perry & he went on to win the tournament which had about 230 players in it.
Jay & Greg had a great time. Jay lasted about 90 minutes longer than I did & Greg came in 32nd! Jay got to play at a table with Greg Raymer & I got Greg to autograph two of the 2005 BCC Octagon chips for Jay & Greg.
Last week I asked my friend Scott Harker from Ohio to please buy back my 25% in the Calcutta on Friday since I would not be there. Scott is the one who wrote a no limit book with Russ Fox & mentioned it in one of the Poker Stars tournaments we had about a week ago. He plays under the name "Blaine-O". Anyway, when I saw him this morning he told me he forgot to do it! Well, at the last minute the person who had bought me AND the player I was doubled with asked me if I wanted my 25% which came to $25. I said of course. As it turned out, the guy's name I was in the Calcutta with is Nick & also lives here in Las Vegas. I've known him for a couple of years. He ends up coming in 2nd & my share of the Calcutta money is $467! I had even forgotten about it when Greg & I left to go back to the Riviera in the later afternoon. Then Ross Poppel showed up at the Riviera around 10 tonight & told me that Nick & Don were playing heads-up. Needless to say I headed right down to the Plaza. Not how I had hoped to cash, but I'll take it.
You should think about playing in this tournament one year. This was my 8th year & BARGE is truly an experience.
