Neal Silverman and Marty Kaplan started Chequers somewhere around 1995, just before I started chipguide.com. Originally, chippers could sign up and publish a link to themselves with their collecting interests, etc. Over the years it evolved into many different things, a bulletin board, an online magazine, classified ads, and much much more.

The chips have Chipco on them because Chipco made them for Neal & Marty at either a reduced cost or for free, so they included their advertising on them. When Neal and Marty gave the site up, Jim Blanchard at pokerchips.com took it over.
