Stu,
About time for what?.. For all sellers who allow themselves to be extorted in this manner to raise their shipping and handling fees? You know that will be the net effect. Sellers will go one of 2 routes.. they will either stop accepting PayPal altogether or take the mandatory upgrade and jack up their S&H fees to cover it. The buyers will end up paying for these increased costs in the end. It may increase the number of sellers that accept credit card PayPal slightly, so that it is more convenient for you, but I doubt a significant number of sellers will opt for this new and improved method of avoiding confusion on the part of the buyers. Many will simply elect to no longer accept PayPal at all.. which may slightly inconvenience those of us that have a balance in our PayPal accounts and can transfer it to complete a transaction. I think you will begin to see a lot more BidPay logos on ads.. this allows payment by credit card for the buyer's convenience, but he pays for that convenience with a $1.95 charge. This way sellers won't have to jack up shipping charges to their non-credit card buyers. We can always go back to the old payment methods of checks and money orders.. those methods worked just fine prior to PayPal and will work fine again. I have heard too many horror stories of credit card chargebacks to subject myself to the risk of accepting credit cards directly through PayPal. I will not be taking the forced upgrade to my PayPal account and I will not be raising my shipping rates from the current rate of $1 for combined shipping.
