earlier in the week.
I went to the casino this afternoon. The cage manager confirmed that the £2.50 metal tokens were pulled from the tables about 6 weeks ago.
Originally, 30,000 tokens were made and introduced on the day the casino opened and have been in use ever since.
Cage manager estimated that 28,500 were sent for destruction about 3 weeks ago. Roughly 500 are in the cage waiting to be melted down with whatever else is turned in this month. A couple of hundred have probably been destroyed in the past as they were damaged. That means maybe 800 are unaccounted for. That gives you an idea of numbers. I was out of stock of these but now have a handful in very fine condition. The casino is now using the generic Grosevenor £2.50 as in use in other London casinos so there is no "new" chip.
See my posts later today for UK chip sales which will include a Victoria "variety" and an "error"
