When I visited Vegas in May, I planned on playing hold'em for the first time in a casino. I've played in numerous home games, but knew there would be a difference.
I was nervous, but decided my best bet would be to start out in a tournament. Ended up playing a couple of days in the MGM morning tournament and had a really good time. The couple of hours I played went quick, and I made a few stupid mistakes (folding in the big blind when the table called all around). But all (players, dealers and management) at the MGM were very nice (and forgiving!!)
I've also heard good things about Excalibur and Alladin. You can visit the site listed below where they have reviews of most of the poker rooms in Vegas. There are also some interesting trip reviews that are entertaining.
