Are you aware that it appears that the very chip you are offering for auction appears to have had a hole in it at one time?

Allow me to add these observations...

In reading the messages of this thread you started, there is a post by David Spragg pointing out a post being made by "ANON" on David's bulletin board.

That post contains an image of a Wilber Clark $5, HCE mold that looks to be identical to the chip you are offering on eBay. Please note the alignments of the inserts to the words on the inlay in your default view of the chip.

Also note that the yellow insert at about the 2 o'clock position (just above the hole) extends into the first groove ring of the HCE mold. This is repeated on both chips.

Now, its pretty easy to say that someone doctored your eBay scan, however, I would find that difficult to believe, as your eBay scan is actually a photograph (or digital camera image) that was taken at an oblique angle to the chip.

The "ANON" image could be either a photograh or scanned image, however the vantage point is at 90 degrees to the chip's surface. In order to digitally change an image from an oblique angle to a symetrical view does not happen easily.

So, it would appear to me that the chip in both images are the same chip. Perhaps your explanation is your Grandmother allowed that chip to be scanned before you got it and that somebody doctored that scan (with a digital hole) just to ruin your eBay offering.
