"About a year ago a woman in Great Britian was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery scheduled. Six weeks before the operation the doctor decided that she had been mis-diagnosed and didn't need the mastectomy. But he went ahead and did it anyway. She sued and won $6,000,000"
Fortunately, the dollar is not that weak yet
She was awarded £345,000 ($600,000)
Her is an extract from our local medical journal.
"A woman who had both breasts removed after doctors wrongly said she had cancer has won thousands at the High Court.
Jennifer Cormack underwent a double mastectomy, and endured many other subsequent operations after Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel misdiagnosed her as having breast cancer.
She was the second woman wrongly diagnosed by the same pathologist, who has escaped being disciplined because bosses felt they were "genuine human errors".
But Mrs Cormack is now considering reporting the pathologist concerned, Professor Sir Colin Berry, to the General Medical Council.
As well as having her breasts removed, Mrs Cormack, who was awarded £345,000, had to have a full hysterectomy following problems with the cancer drug tamoxifen."
Geez - did you note the second para "She was the second woman wrongly diagnosed by the same pathologist"
