You may be right. I have received some of those "outside eBay" offers on some high dollar items that I made tiny bids on - this could have been one of them. I suspect it is a new phishing technique - list high dollar things you don't have and then try to get a some money from all the underbidders as well as the high bid and then stiff them all. It is sad the lengths people will go to to get a few $$$s. At least it sounds like eBay is trying to do something about it - but they are pretty late on this one - if I bid on this it was well over a month ago.
