I've read several posts over the last few days regarding a yellow 1994 WSOP buy in chip that a couple of people on this board have identified as fake. I'm wondering why anyone would destroy a grey 1994 chip and a yellow 1991 chip to make a fake one? That makes no sense to me? Also, I know a dealer who had 30 or so of the yellow ones and has been slowly selling them off as well as I've seen several other people selling them on ebay. Other than that they seem to be a pretty scarce chip. Seems like an awful lot of chips to destroy to just make a fake one?
If you look in the TCR there are three 1991 yellow bjones chips listed. All of them have 4-Split Aqua inserts.
1. N9970 w/ a Red inlay (modified)
2. N9970 w/ a Silver inlay (modified)
3. N9970 w/ a Yellow inlay
If I understand correctly the yellow inlay one was used for 1991 then a new sticker was attached to give it a red inlay for 1992. Has anyone seen N9970 w/ a silver inlay other than the one pictured here? Is the TCR wrong? Or, is the silver one that is pictured here the third modified N9970? I'd really like to get this figured out so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
