I'm compelled to add my one and half cents...
A disappointment? I think not. While it's true that Official US Casino Chip Price Guidedoesn't include every single chip in the US, it's still a wonderful guide. Given that the authors had to deal with a 400 page constraint, I'd say they did very well. The illustrations and casino information alone are worth its price.
Because information changes daily, no guide can ever be up to date and that would include most encyclopedias as well. This is also true of Chip Rack. Rather than compete, these books complement each other.
The enormous amount of research, time and effort that went into both guides, is more than obvious. At the very least, it's a herculean task. The proofreading alone would do me in. The authors deserve our highest praise, not criticism.
On those occasions when I've had a question about a chip that wasn't in the book, I've always received an answer, either from the Chipboard or the authors themselves.
So, with these guides and the Chipboard, most information is readily available. I just don't understand what all the fuss is about.
Since I limit my collecting to Nevada, I didn't include the other authors who have compiled price guides covering other states. They, too are worthy of high praise.
Now, if I just had the cash to buy all those beautiful chips...
