Since we think of most French chips as made by B et G, we tend to refer to jetons as the European type plastic chip made by B et G. However, a jeton may be any mold, size or type of chip or check, denomination or not, U.S., European, Asian, African, or whatever. It is merely the French translation for gaming chip.

Then again, when most of us refer to a jeton, we usually mean the plastic European B et G type.
