The rooms at the Gate are clean, sorta' functional, and as safe as anyplace else. We've stayed there occasionally when we've needed a room on a Friday, but not Saturday (since most hotels won't let you stay just one night of the weekend... ).

BUT you have to remember the hotel was built in 1906...it's been remodeled, but the rooms are very small. Fun to stay for a night, as it's the oldest hotel in town...BUT....no room to spread out new treasures that you buy, a small shower...no tub, the bathroom door bumps the john!

I don't remember if there are in-room safes? My recommendation, stay at the Las Vegas Club, the rooms are twice the size (literally!).

Where ever you decide to stay, have a Great Time!! We love downtown...
