When I was in high school (late fifties) my English teacher told the class that her previous job had been as a wire transfer operator at a bank.

One day she had a transfer for $300,000, the biggest she had ever done. She was a litle nervous and typed in an extra zero. Cost her employer $2,700,000 (in 1940's dollars).

That's why she was teaching high school English.
