I could be wrong, but a friend explained to me that a Bison IS a buffalo, but a slightly smaller version and is raised by alot of ranchers because the Bison is also alot less aggressive than a Buffalo. I also agree with Travis - the Dakota's are beautiful! Darrell and I have traveled throught the Dakotas' on several occasions and found the people to be laid-back and friendly. Wouldn't mind living there, but it does have some brutal winter winds.
