Two auctions by the same seller ended recently for 2 crest and seal chips. One was a Reno Commemorative that went for $3840 and the other was a chinese card room chip (the Lions Club) that went for $361.
I bought the Lions Club for about $150 more than it's worth but then again, no one put a gun to my head.
In the Lions Club auction shipping and handling was $2.25 for first class, no insurance. As soon as the auction was over I wrote a check which included $4.30 for priority + del confirmation. I emailed the seller what I was doing.
Here is the email I got from him (copied and pased -- no hi, no bye):
first class can't have delivery confirmation. insurance on $400 is $5.20. if you didn't send enough it won't be insured for full amonut. first class with insurance would be $7.25 THE 2.25 DOESN'T COVER ANTHING BUT SHIPPING & HANDLING. ITS UP TO YOU. I WON'T TAKE MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET TO COVER IT.
You would think that a guy that just made a good bit over $4k profit on 2 chips would be a bit sweeter.
BTW, first class can have delivery confirmation.
I told him if he won't send it prioity, just send it first class with del conf (keep the $4.30 I sent him). I hope he does scream about a large handling fee.
Not to sound like an angel but in the auction I ran, priority with del conf was $4. I also gave an option of first class with del conf for $1. .Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6177016556&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT
I guess I just had to vent. What bothered me was the tone of the email. Maybe it's just me.
