These are now being used on the tables as $0.50 pieces. One purpose for them (and probably the only) is when you are the small blind on a $1 table and you fold, they give you one in change.

Also the first time I've seen these swizzle sticks (assuming that's what they are called) they are short, and used for garnishing a drink with fruit or an olive, etc... They say Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (not Tampa) and Chivas Regal.
