However, this isn't about a seller passing along cost but attempting to pass along responsibility via an insurance or other gimic.

I don't mind a seller who lists a chip for $3 and charges 99 cents to ship it.

I have a problem with the seller who lists the same chip for 99 cents and charges $3 to ship it and then enters a disclaimer that he won't be responsible if the item gets lost unless you pay an extra $1.50 for "insurance".

Chances are, that chip will show up uninsured in a regular envelope with a 37 cent stamp.
