It depends on what all you want to do in the San Diego area. If you want to do the normal tourist stuff, I think Pechanga is your best place to stay. You can get a beautiful HUGE suite for $259 (4 tvs) with a breathtaking view of the mountains. The restraunts and buffet are excellent, and they just opened their new addittion , doubling it's size.

It's freeway close to all the casinos that Dick mentioned, and an easy drive to San Diego, Mexico, and about an hr from Disneyland.

They have a new poker room, "card" Craps,and a massive non smoking area.

One of my favorite places to stay/play in that area.
