My Wynn Pics

Not a Wynn matchbook, ashtray, or pen to be found on the property! Ashtrays were generic, no logo... Don't know what the plans are.

General observations: Weak opening. The marquee had a count-down from 30 seconds, then there were video fireworks on the marquee - that's it! Then, a dangerous mob scene ensued on LVBvd as far too many people tried to get into the various entrances from the street (no over-street walkways were completed). The wait did give me a chance to study the incredible marquee - it actually features a large section (with light-up signature Wynn) that periodically goes up to the top of the marquee, or down to the bottom. Now, while this may not sound like too big of a deal, this movement has been integrated into the video - at one point a golf ball is seen missing the hole, and the moving section of the marquee moves up and bumps the video-golf ball into the hole! In the pic below, the moving Wynn section has moved to the top - just like an elevator. When it moves down, it sort of does a screen-wipe displaying the next image or video... Just TOO SLICK!!!

This is a different sort of casino - it's sort of like; "this is where we feel comfortable (being stinky-filthy-rich), and we're so comfortable here that we don't have to flaunt it". Like, it's no big deal to call down and charge a new Maserati to your room. The minimum table bet in the High Roller Lounge is $500. There are separate parts to the place, with separate registration lobby's, where you just feel like you don't belong (you have to be invited).

On the chip side, RFID chips were throughout the casino - although the tables don't read the chips! The only place I could see that actually utilizes the RFID data is at the Cashier Cage. I think I was the first one to give my blackjack dealer a "Red Card" (their slot card), and she and her pit boss were very excited that they got to input the data... Keep in mind, this place was in utter chaos - Dealers & Pit personnel were clearly nervous (my dealer mis-dealt a card on almost every hand), the shuffle machines were not cooperating (they didn't particularly enjoy my suggestion that they turn off the shuffler and go to single-deck!), and there were many LONG pauses (3-10 minutes) to play while they were trying to look like they knew what they were doing. Roulette tables features the new chip-sorting machines; the dealer just pushes all the losing bets into a catch-hole, and the machine sorts the colors.

All in all, a better-than-expected Grand Opening (no fireworks, darn!). Now, lets see what happens as they check-in guests and try to open the restaurants!
