Steve, to whine is natural. It's just that the reason for whinning in poker (or any gambling game for that matter) is so prolific that it can possess us. We've all heard and have had the same bad beat stories as everyone else. It's inevitable--just look at the televised games and one will see the exact same set of circumstances.
But during the interviews with most everyone except possibly Phil Hellmuth, they all say "that's poker." So knowing that it happens to the best of us should give us some comfort---but usually not immediately after it happens to us.
In the meantime, enjoy yourself, don't get too overwhelmed with your present good play and by all means keep your day job.
I'm looking forward to a great game of no limit with a great bunch of guys at the convention. And keep in mind, AK's does NOT do well with a bunch of players nor does AA and KK.
One more thing. Playing in Vegas has got to be the best place in the world for that is where all the tourist are and are easier pickings then the locals. We usually have a morning game of seniors and believe me, they(we) are the toughest grinders one ever wants to see. Heaven have pity on the newcomer who sits in that game.
Oh yes, just one more thing. You are "right on" when you mention patience. I believe it is probably the most important attribute one can possess in playing winning poker--even more important than position. But I don't know if that can be learned or not. At one time I thought maturity had a lot to do with it but have since realized with this new group of youngsters out on the circut, they have it as well and are doing fantastic.
