I also have played for 50 years, started in old Gardena, at Primms joints. I agree with everything you said, I also don't want my (8) grandkids to gamble, however my 17 oldest plays poker with high school buddies. Very common now day's in most Ca. high schools. I only have one point to add, you can read all the books, play in non cash learning games, all you want, but the ONLY way to learn the game of poker is experience in the live game, it takes time to learn. Also, bad cards and bad beats run in streaks, one must learn to live with the up's and down's. Be even tempered never get to high or to low. In the long run it is a game of skill. But for old farts like Paul and I, a hell of a lot of fun.
