What is the mold around the chip, is it a Hat and Cane, or is it small little crowns running around the edge? In either case it was made as a souvenir to fit into the money clip. It was never used in the casino. But they still do have value.

The Hat and Cane version can sell for up to $50.00. The small crown versions sell for between $20 - 40. The wear you describe could be a problem and may decrease it's value.
