A few weeks ago I posted a photo of my encased cent from the Lucky Card Club in San Jose, California. Last week I posted a photo of a chip and matchbook from the Club courtesy of John Johannes. He saw my post of the encased and thought I would be interested in seeing some Lucky Card Club stuff from his collection. I was! Although I don’t collect matchbooks I love to see examples from old clubs. Especially when I have an encased cent from that club. I’m always amazed at the information that can be found on a simple matchbook. I’ve even attributed a few “maverick” encased cents from matchbooks. Is this a cool hobby or what?
Last Friday I received an email from David Moore. He said he had a chip from the Lucky Card Club and wondered if I was interested. (Ohhhhhhh… yeah! ) I emailed back asking what he needed for a trade, but didn’t hear from him. Fast-forward to today, and look what was in my mailbox. Is this a great chip, or what? To me, wear and cigarette burns equal history. How many hours was this chip rubbed back and forth on the table felt by a player just waiting and hoping – praying - for his luck to change? I wouldn’t trade this chip for one in mint condition!
David included directions with the chip. Pretty simple directions too. “ENJOY.” Thanks, David. You… NICE BUNNY!
