As a buyer, I hope to find a bargain every now and then. A seller on a "specialty" site knows what he/she has and is likely to start the auction higher, set a reserve, or even cancel the auction if it looks like it's going too "cheap".
On ebay, in spite of the large audience, you can still find a bargain occasionally...usually when an item is listed "wrong".
Of course, with ebays search options, it's getting harder to find bargains. (huge sigh...) I've been watching a 5" Sal Sagev plate for a week...we have the cup and the dinner plate, I was hoping to add to the set..as it ended up, I didn't even bother to bid . The auction ended over $150.00.
