I know this may seem like some extra work, but honestly it's free and easy.

INSTALL NETSCAPE!

You don't have to use it for your browser, just get the free download of 7.2 (soon to be 8.0 but that's another issue) install it. Set your defalt mailbox as Netscape. You don't every have to use Netscape if you like your current browser.

Most of the email viruses target Microsoft IE and Outlook, which allows the darn infections to run. Netscape Does Not.

It includes spam control and will move the junk mail into a JUNK mailbox. For the first few weeks you will need to check which messages are going there by accident. Also if you get a message and click on the little blue button next to it, that marks the sender as SPAM and throws it out. Added feature, anyone in your saved addresses is marked as OK.

Last of all, when you install Netscape it includes a popup blocker for Internet Explorer as part of the package.

So you can keep going with IE, get spam protected mail and get a pop-up blocker... all by installing Netscape.

Oh yes, it includes a free Netscape email address as well if you choose. So you can get that extra "private" email address, for free.

Yahoo offers free email addresses, but they are Web Based (you can't get messages in your mailbox on your computer)

kon-x.com offers free email.

Pretty soon Gmail, by Google, should be going public. Free?

Most providers include multiple mailboxes, but don't make a big point of telling you that they do. SBC includes 10 mailboxes, plus disposale accounts, if you know where to look.

But really, get Netscape, it's free, it includes spam control, it includes a free IE popup blocker.

Next get the FREE adware se by Lavasoft that removes tracking devices that monitor your browsing habits and gather information.

If you have XP there's a free adware beta version on the Microsoft site.

There have been two people that harvested addresses off this BB and the Strike BB. How do I know? I have a special email account for each BB and get the spam once a week. Same message, same source, even though I've tried to be removed. Never anything from the CC>CC BB.
