The Prospector's Club is a private club that for years only allowed male members. As it is a private club, it, of course, was not allowed to be licensed for gaming. No one was allowed in the club unless they were a member or a member took you into the club. The club was originally opened by a group of "movers and shakers" in the Reno area. Membership was by invitation only and one "black ball" could keep anyone from joining. Over the years the club was located in various Reno Hotel Casinos (The Riverside, The Mapes and for several years Harrah's).
I have had lunch at the Prospector's only twice in my life. Naturally, I attended as someone's guest. They are noted for their "high rolling" gin rummy games, but I can guarantee you there are no 21 games, craps games, etc.
