There are lots of Petroleum Clubs. I've been to the one in Houston. The oil business is an fun "Good ole Boys" fraternity, and the clubs facilite that idea. I know there are a few in Texas and some mid-continent, probably anywhere there are significant hydrocarbon reserves will have a place for them to meet.

I don't know much about the gambling in the places, but I would suspect there was. However, I would also suspect like many country clubs, chips were available for patrons to gamble with, but the house would not have taken any piece of the action.
