Gene --
Although I read the bulletin board, I rarely if ever post messages. Congratulations, you drove me to it.
You are arrogant, self-righteous, disrespectful and just plain obnoxious. A simple acknowledgment of Nate's announcement would have been sufficient. Nate has had a tremendous responsibility, and I personally know how many hours he has put into the betterment of the club. He has struggled with many weighty issues. Yes, there are issues other than slabbing.
Just because the two of you disagree on one issue does not excuse your arrogant sarcasm. You are so self-absorbed with your slab free diatribe that there is no room on any bulletin board for anyone with a different viewpoint.
Lest I be accused of being a slab proponent, let me state unequivocally that I agree with the slab free agenda, but refuse to sign (1,647,983,015 and counting) because I am so disgusted by the mob mentality you espouse. "You agree with us or I'll bludgeon you to death on the bulletin board" might as well be your slogan.
Nate might not be your favorite person, nor for that matter, may I. OK, so I lost another Christmas card. But everyone in this hobby has a right to be free of this bullying, arrogant, self-absorbed nonsense. He was announcing his retirement, not another run for office or a motion to have every chip slabbed. This is not about slabbing. This is about common decency, courtesy and respect for an opinion other than yours.
It's easy to heckle from the sidelines, isn't it. It is a lot harder to show some responsibility and self-deprecation. Your comment to Nate, as well as your comment to Dave Shron, was uncalled for. And if you want to call me names for saying so, I think I can handle it.
