Love the poster for sure!
Seems like it's easy to overlook movies and stars from the forties. It may have appeared like they were just cranking them out and the players were all under house contracts like tv sitcom pawns. Stanwyck was one of Bogart's favs to work with and that look on her face in that Lady Gambles pic sure puts the viewer in an uncomfortable moment with a gambler at risk. Watching Cary Grant in Mr. Lucky is another illustration of the genuius these stars had as Grant never makes a misstep in that underrated movie. Remember when he was outlining the activies he could bring to the soldiers aid fund-raiser and the charity dame sputters "But... that's GAMBLING!" Posting his reply here could never match what HE brought to the line.
Gonna have to keep an eye out for Frisco Kid, maybe learn how to play faro!
