About the truest words ever muttered, Steve. We've all had them and will get more in the future. Half the people are not listening to you and the other half (as you said) don't give a damn.
But I hope I have finally learned just to accept them and not say a word.
A couple of other phrases really irritate me because they are so insincere.
The first is good luck (usually said by the dealers when a person is "all in".) This translates to me that he wishes everyone else bad luck, In fact, he cares less who wins as long as he gets his tip. But is also said by some people sitting down in a tournament game.
That statement can be added to:
1-I'm from the government and I'm here to help you,
2- The checks in the mail and
3- of course I'll still love you in the morning.
And the second is "I'm sorry" when a person beats someone else. If he was really sorry, then I would think he would forfeit all the money he win in that pot.
All of us, without exception, enter a casino or "on line" with the expectation of winning.
See you on Wednesday and good luck in the tournament
