I realize the computer is a cruch that we rely on but we need to be able to fly solo if the thing crashes. I learned to make change working at a drive in window just like in my story, with one major exception, we didn't know what a computer was. We started out with the amount of the sale and counted (in change) backward to the total given us. Worked everytime. I wonder how many of us would be helpless if our calculator batteries went dead or stranded if our cell phone died. We rely pretty heavily on technology, often time I think too heavily.
