That's something I do on a regular basis. Another thing everyone should do on a regular basis is run a scan for spyware on your hard drive. Large amounts of spyware on your computer will slow it down considerably. I use Adaware by LavaSoft, a free and very affective tool. I've been using Adaware on this machine for about two years. It has picked up and deleted over 2100 data mining spyware programs.

Some of the sites that plant spyware on your computer would surprise you. A few that are notable are Neteller and ESPN.

Neteller is frequently referenced on this BB as a source for funding an online poker account. Not only do they charge a 8.9% service charge for using them, they install data mining software on your computer. FirePay charges a flat rate of $3.99 for each deposit, and they don't plant tracking software onto your machine.

ESPN plants tracking software on your machine when you participate in their fantasy games.

I happen to think these data miners should be illegal. Not only do I consider such software to be an invasion of privacy, the existence of these programs on your computer definitely slows down your online activities.
