In the game I play monthly, we pass the button, but not the deal. I start off dealing. When sometime gets knocked out, they can OFFER to deal. Depending on who it is, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. When I get knocked out, I take over. However, I find that when I am dealing, I have more of a problem focusing and reading players. But, as lousy as my game is, it doesn't seem to hurt much.
