According to Thomas C. Day's article Casino Tokens of Monte-Carlo (found in our club magazine; library): "Dating the pieces [Monte-Carlo chips] is nearly impossible, and mintage figures are unavailable, as are records indicating the number of pieces retired from circulation [also used as currency in local shops] and subsequently destroyed. In addition, entire series were sold to jewelers for use in key chains, bracelets and paperweights."
