Sheesh! My so-called friend Ian Durias led me to engage in illegal activity! Playing poker in Oregon for charity...can you imagine! Raising $1000 so children in homeless situations can attend school seemed like a good idea but OMG, it was WRONG! I know ignorance of the law is no excuse your honor, um, would you be interested in the genuine Annie Duke autograph I acquired during my perfidity?
Well charity poker is on the way to becoming legal hereabouts. From the Daily Fishwrap:
Only games where players are betting against the house -- such as craps or blackjack -- are allowed. House Bill 231l would change that to allow games where players bet against one another. The measure, passed on a 56-1 vote, now goes to the Senate.
56 to ONE? Probably one of those mommy-stater Dems that look down their nose at charity. After all, why do we need charity when we could just tax ourselves a buracracy to get the kiddies from under bridges into school?
