I only saw the "good Doctor" in person once. It was at the Sioux Falls, SD Holiday Inn right after George McGovern had conceded the Presidential Election.

There he was in the lobby, Bigger than Dallas, munching grapefruits and swilling Wild Turkey. Pounding away furiously on a typewriter reporting the sad state of affairs after the concession speech.

He will be missed....Ether soaked towels and a high speed burn across the desert in a big red car anyone??
