I started when I found chips in my pocket after a trip to Laughlin, AFTER I got back to Las Vegas, besides I collect everything anyway. Then I went to every casino in Reno, walking and got chips, and soon I was hooked.
Did they have LE's back in 1986?
But your point is correct Robert, most of the new collectors, noticed the special chips and started collecting. The LEs are good for attracting more interest.
I don't collect them because there are too darn many and I don't see making 2,000 to 10,000 $5 chips as "limited" since that's more than the demand. Often more than the regular house rack. Imagine that?
I love the Four Queens, I hate their chip and token policies. I once joked about the chip of the month club, because casinos were issuing so many new LEs, and little did I know that Four Queens would beat that number, in one set!
LEs now are contrived and designed to walk with the players and sometimes with the collectors. That doesn't make them bad, it just makes them common and not so limited. It also starts people collecting!
