I would assume it is due to the fact that most are either sent over from Europe by chip dealers/collectors OR brought over by people who visited the Casinos.In any case, nobody seems to be giving them away do they ? Also , unless you are dealing with current (mostly Euro denomination) jetons, it is hard to guage the actual value. I am sure I have overpaid for some of my jetons, and hopefully gotten good deals on others.
