For the benefit of new collectors I thought I'd throw out an observation from collecting California chips for a few years. The Hollywood Park New Year chips always cause a flurry of excitement when they first come out and people are able to successfully sell them for a pretty stiff premium right after their issue. But I've noticed the chips seem to decline in value within a few months and I've never observed it being difficult to obtain them.

Note: I'm not saying there is anything wrong with people selling these chips for whatever others want to pay.
