Kinda Chip Related:
I've been buying the Cowen's 30 pocket binder pages to store my chips. I have bought them at the Gambler's General Store and from two other club members that offer them for sale.
In all cases, the binders rip at the seams. This is when they are brand new and I'm inserting chips for the first time. It would be understandable if they had been used again and again but this is not the case.
I've tried inserting the chips in all four corners first, top/bottom rows first and have even started in the middle. In all cases they rip at the seams in at least one part of the page regardless of how gently I insert the chips.
I called the Gambler's General Store and explained what happened and they said they'd replace them but would charge $8.00 for shipping/handling, or I could bring them in next time I was in Las Vegas.
In January 2004, I wrote to Cowen's asking if they would replace them. They never even bothered to respond. Well, having just bought a new batch recently, I decided to try again. The same thing happened. Since I was really annoyed, I sent Cowen's another letter and 12 broken pages. They would have gotten around 15 more, but I'd thrown them away.
Has anyone else had this experience with these pages? Did contacting Cowen's bring any response?
Prior to the Cowen's pages I had been using a brand called CWS - Canada, but they are a softer material and after reading all the posts about chips bleeding, I switched to Cowen's.
My final question: Does anyone know of another manufacturer of these pages?
Thank you.
