I loaded trucks over the Summer in college, working sunrise sort for UPS. (that's 3am until 7 am for those interested in work shifts) If we got caught throwing/tossing a package, it was something they would lecture us about. Threats of being fired.
I had daily pickup at my office for over 30 years. UPS is the best. One package got broken open in shipment. Some small items in a Jetpack. No problem considering the number of times I shipped.
Never lost one package.
Received about two empty jetpacks in 30 years. The end opened and the contents got lost.
One item broken in shipment, and UPS paid the claim after looking at the original packing, box Etc. Something people should remember. Save the box and all original materials if you are going to make a claim.
I guess I'd say, for security and reliability, I'd take UPS over anyone else.
Now I have to go search for the letter. I did post it here and probably on Prodigy, it's been that long since we had two BBs operating.
"If someone comes to my UPS Store and wants to ship a "casino chip", I politely say "I am sorry, it is considered currency by UPS, and I cannot ship it" Yes, there are people that will ship it, but they assume the complete and total responsibility incase of loss. I will not, I prefer to be honest upfront. Thus, if you cannot ship it, you cannot insure it"
And that is the point which has always been the debate. Is a chip curreny or is it a collectible? I suppose it's going to take some lawyer to continue with this, since a casino chip is NOT currency and only intended for use in the casino that issues it.
I still won't disagree with you about policy. That's the way it is...
