Patty Smith spent several hours with Ernest Marquez who has done exhaustive research on the CA boats. He literally has a filing cabinet filled with articles,pictures, notes etc. all about all of the ships that operated off the coast of CA. None of his notes refer to an SS Fortune. We included a bit of the history in our book and it does mention many of the ships. We are hoping that someday he will put out the book but it doesn't appear likely. If I were to guess I would agree that this is from a cruise ship but have never been able to confirm it.
