Gallery
Gallery fees will be raised from $0.25 to $0.35 per listing. We will also be increasing the size of the Gallery image on search and listings pages by 56%. This will make it easier for buyers to see details of the item before clicking into the listing.
Buy It Now
Buy It Now fees will no longer be charged at a flat rate, and will instead be determined based on the Buy It Now price. Fees will be charged as follows:
Buy It Now Price Fee
$0.01 - 9.99 $0.05
$10 - 24.99 $0.10
$25 - 49.99 $0.20
$50+ $0.25
10-Day Duration
The fee for 10-day duration listings will be raised from $0.20 to $0.40 per listing.
(the rest is about commercial listings and EBay Store fees.)
So Gallery, Buy it Now and 10-Day have increased.
Either I didn't get the same notice or there's no change in what most of us buy and sell on eBay?
I don't use BIN. Ten day auctions, usually mean people just wait three more days before placing their snipe bids.
Gallery fees are already too high at 25c and I'm not excited at all about paying 10c more for a 56% increase in image size. How much server space does it take for a gallery image? They are sticking us more for little in return.
As far as business goes. Their job is to make a profit for the investors. However if they price themselves out of the market and competition takes over, they aren't making the investors happy. Competition is coming!
Why I still sell on eBay and not on any of the alternative sites.
EXPOSURE
Lets say you are selling a car. Do you park it in the alley behind your house, with a 3x5 notecard on it, or park it on a busy street with a large brightly lettered sign?
Do you want to sell your chips where you might have hundreds of potential buyers, or where you get hundreds of thousands of buyers?
If eBay prices themselves out of the market, an upstart will be able to steal their business. But until I get exposure and sales from the many "other" sites, I'm sticking with eBay.
Sorry for pointing out the facts of life, but for buyers and sellers, eBay is the general merchandise monster. Go search somewhere else for casino chips and see how many you find. Are the prices any better? Is the selection better? Is the way to collect and pay any better?
Someone needs to step up and beat eBay at their own game. And then they will be the rich greedy owners or the best site to buy and sell casino chips. Kind of ironic isn't it?
