.. anyone else notice this?

Let's say your top bid was $10. If I bid $10.05, I will have the top bid at $10.05. However, If I then go in to increase my top bid amount to say $12, ebay will raise my initial bid amount to $10.50 (or whatever the appropriate increment is over the next lower bid).

This has happened to me twice now where I essentially wound up bidding against myself and it's really the pits if you wind up paying more than required. Ebay hasn't repsonded to questions about this.

Is this the way it is supposed to work?
